Jealousy

Jealousy is a powerful emotion. It can cause a person to experience anger, disgust, and sadness. Jealousy can occur when a possession is lost and emotions can spiral out of control causing a person to do whatever it takes to feel better. The Othello video was cleverly put together. All the clips from the movie match very well with the song "Mr. Brightside" by The Killers. Jealousy is a popular theme in many art forms. It was also a popular theme with the works of William Shakespeare. Othello and The Merchant of Venice are two examples of Shakespearean works that involve jealousy.
In Othello, William Shakespeare created the greatest villain of all time, Iago. Iago did not even lift a finger to execute his devious plan. In the video, Iago's monologue, he talks of his plan and how he will execute it. The video helps the viewer see and hear the contempt Iago has for Othello. Iago merely instills a little jealousy and causes a catastrophe to unfold. Heed the warnings and beware of jealousy.

Trifles

Photobucket

Susan Glaspell was once a reporter for Des Moines News in Iowa. Her one act play Trifles is loosely based on one of her cases. Although the play is a murder mystery it also focuses on the relationships between genders. The men in the play search for clues but ignore the women's world. By doing so the women uncover evidence in the "trifles" of a housewife.(840) The events of the play occur during the turn of the century where women had less rights and were still considered inferior to men.
The videos help give light to the play. Music helps set a tone. As actors play their parts the play comes to life. Facial expressions, body language, and tone of voice all contribute to the play. This cannot be done when a play is merely read. The audience cannot fully appreciate a play unless it is acted out.
